Akha Hani Hilltribe Project

On Saturday, April 10, 2010 iNDIGO PROjECT MEDIA and Penmen Elite, LLC held the Akha Art Benefit in Los Angeles, CA to raise money for the construction of an alternative medicine hospital in Northern Thailand.  The funds raised at the event benefited AFECT (Association for Akha Education and Culture in Thailand), a remarkable organization that is currently working on the ground with the Akha-Hani hilltribes. They have made great strides in assuring the tribe’s continued health. More efficient, ecologically-sound ways to harvest, treat illnesses and educate the tribe’s members are already being implemented.

We had immense support at the Akha Art Benefit, which showcased fabulous art pieces, great food and music.  The money raised has allowed AFECT to start the beginning phases of construction for the Alternative Medicine Hospital. This hospital will provide health care opportunities for the the Akha Hani Hilltribes who have been changed by the rapid economic and cultural shifts taking place in their region.  They are very grateful for all the donations collected at the event.  Thank you for the continuous support in the projects we highlight.
